If you think your circumstances might qualify you to live in one of Christ’s Hospital’s Almshouses, you can request an application form and details of rules for residents from our Clerk (See ‘Contact Us’ section). Alternatively you can print a copy of the application form below and once complete send it to the address in the ‘Contact Us’ section.
To be eligible, you need to be at least 50 years of age, have lived in Abingdon for minimum of 5 years and be able to demonstrate that you are in some way in need of our support. The Charity will also need to establish that you are of good character, since this is a requirement of our charter, so we may need to ask you some further questions and even perhaps ask you to put us in touch with someone who has known you for some years.
We have one set of almshouses for which we can consider applications from those currently living outside Abingdon if they can demonstrate strong connections with the town, so your place of residence need not necessarily put you off contacting us.
Owing to the high standard of the Almshouse accommodation and the many other benefits of life in our Almshouse community, we normally have more applications than we have vacancies, and we aim to consider them all on an equal footing whenever an Almshouse becomes available.
If you have any further questions regarding application, please contact us.
